Ryder Cup caps record month for Spaceworks
Spaceworks Furniture Hire delivered over 52,500 pieces of furniture to the K-Club in Ireland for golf’s premier team event, the Ryder Cup. As the European team, captained by Ian Woosnam, smashed their American counterparts 18½ to 9½, Spaceworks dedicated on-site team were busy ensuring all areas from the buggy park to the hospitality suites and prestigious Ryder Cup ball were fully kitted out with a stylish array of furniture. All the kit, ranging from ashtrays to banquet chairs, was delivered and fully installed inside a five-day window.
In 2002, Spaceworks was joint supplier to the last Ryder Cup to be held in Europe at the Belfry in Sutton Coldfield. Such was the quality of its work - this time it won the right to supply the entire workload.
“Logistically it is a hard job to manage,” said managing director Paul Turney. “But our highly trained staff have experienced almost every imaginable situation in the past and know just what to do. Installing all the kit within a tight time frame was not a problem.”
He added: “While in the past Spaceworks has been synonymous with large sporting events this is in fact our only major sports event of the year. The mainstay of our business is still made up from supplying furniture for private parties and weddings via marquee companies. It just shows our ability to provide for an event of any scale from a party of 45 to a party for 45,000 per day over three days at an event like the Ryder Cup. We can cater for and tailor our service to everyone’s needs.”
The Ryder Cup caps a great September for the Surrey-based company. “It will be the biggest trading month Spaceworks has ever seen,” said Turney. “This follows a record 2005 - which we are also on course to beat.”
